Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all the other Americans on my f-list; happy Thursday to everyone else! I'm very thankful that I have all of you as friends, and I do hope that everyone ate enough turkey/tofurkey. =D

My family and I actually skipped the turkey today; we had roast chicken instead. xD We decided that after years of cooking up turkey and hardly eating any of it (since none of us are big fans of turkey), we'd just go with something we liked. It felt a little strange, but we had all the other foods that're usual for us - stuffing (with Italian bread and prosciutto and cheese in it!), corn, yams with melted marshmellows, cranberry sauce, crescent rolls, potato croquets - and I made a pumpkin pie for dessert.

Thanksgiving's a pretty important holiday for my family. Oddly enough, my sister and I are direct descendants of one of the Mayflower pilgrims through our father's side, something like the 11th or 12th generation. We have the lineage all written out and verified, but I never remember what the exact number is. So~o, one of my many-times-great grandfathers was one of the few piligrims lucky enough to survive the first winter, and thank anything he did, because otherwise I wouldn't be here.

... Apparently, neither would Richard Gere or Dick Van Dyke. ^^'

Grrr...

I am teetering on the brink of throwing a fit. Apparently, someone has used my personal e-mail address to sign up for some BDSM porn/personals website. At first I thought it was just a standard spam e-mail type thing, but now I'm receiving notifications of messages from a number of users on the site. The e-mail address the messages are coming from is a "noreply@" e-mail address, and when I go to the website and click on "Support" or "Spam Policy" it redirects me to a page where I'm supposed to enter my date of birth and electronic signature, certifying that I'm not a minor and WANT to view this website's content. Except, you know, I DON'T, and I don't want to give some random website my birthdate or electronic signature just so I can unsubscribe.

Anyone have any idea what I can do about all this, besides reporting the messages as spam to Gmail? The most I've been able to find is a Brooklyn address for mail inquiries about their digital information collection in regards to compliance laws.

OBAMA

There is a riot going outside my dorm room, and everything feels absolutely crazy.

Obama. As. President. Oh God, I hoped. SO much. And I didn't believe that America would actually do it. I didn't believe that enough people would be able to find it within themselves to vote for him. And I am so, SO glad that people did.

Thank you, America. Let's hope the next four years put us on a course that's radically better than the one we've been on.

(P.S. - Yes, I totally voted today. For the first time. \m/)

Uhm...

Apparently, the doctor says I have tonsillitis.

Excuse me, but WTF?! I DON'T EVEN HAVE TONSILS ANYMORE!

I've been reduced to a pancake and tofu ice cream diet. Ice cream, yogurt, pudding, jello, and lots of soup are what the doctor usually recommends, along with avoiding anything remotely acidic, spicy, or that has scratch potential (the crusty part of a bagel, pretzels, etc.). Of course, I'm semi-lactose intolerant, don't eat things made with gelatin, and avoid soup like the plague when I'm sick due to Very Bad Experiences.

... I am SO making fajitas when this stupid virus has run it's course.

...

So I guess after the sheer awesomeness that was my 18th birthday, I should have expected the ridiculous suckiness that is my 19th birthday. Sometimes, I HATE how things naturally balance out.

Birthday?

Hmmm. My birthday's coming up in just less than two weeks (October 5th), and I'm not sure how I feel about that. =-/

Nineteen. I'm just... not excited. At all. I'm not dreading it or anything, but I think it's the loss of excitement that's getting to me. After eighteen, there really isn't any big milestone for me to look forward to. I don't particularly care about being twenty-one in another two years, since I really couldn't care less about being allowed to drink alcohol, and I suppose it'll be nice to be able to get into a lot of the clubs around here that have that age minimum, but eh.

I'm sure I'll have fun, but I'm probably just going to do the same things I did last year. And I had an awesome time last year, but I can't help but think that eventually, all that'll start to get old. I hate to lose the enthusiasm.

Fandom Info

In case anyone's wondering, this post houses my fandom info in regards to what fandoms I read in/would consider writing in (if I ever get inspired enough to start writing fanfiction again), what pairings I like/love/read/seek out, and where my canon knowledge of the fandom comes from. Please note that my kinks and squicks will be listed in a separate, f-locked post.

ATTN: All - Stolen HP Fanart!

I know most of the people on my f-list aren't fanartists, but in case anyone hasn't seen it yet, this post was made by vikingcarrot over on LJ. To make a long story short, there's a WEBSITE that's stealing the smut art of HP fanartists and allowing people to view it after they've purchased a membership to the website. If you or anyone on your f-list is a fanartist, please pass vikingcarrot's post and the website URL on to them!

The Twilight Trailer [WARNING: One possible spoiler for Twilight series plot events.]

Okay, so, the Twilight trailer. Oh, the Twilight trailer. I've been waiting for this for a while, because I really loved Twilight when it first came out... and then I started hating it when it turned into a series, because the sequels were just - no. I didn't like New Moon at all, it was just ridiculously depressing, and then Eclipse had the potential to be awesome, and then failed because of that whole marriage thing. I honestly contemplated bringing all three books back to the store at that point. Lost all interest.

Then Robert Pattinson got cast as Edward, and I've been curious to see how the movie'll turn out since then. And I'm somewhat delighted that while it seems to do a good job of following the book's plotline, Robert Pattinson does not seem like the Edward that I came to hate. He seems... deliciously creepy. Like really, really, REALLY deliciously creepy.

In any case, I am now looking forward to the movie release. I get creepy, sexy Robert Pattinson to oogle. Yum. x3

The HP SLASH SUPPERCHALLENGE! xD

So, I signed up for the HP SLASH SUPERCHALLENGE that violet_quill put out over at LJ, and I'm really, REALLY excited for it. since it's over at the end of May and I'll be out of school by then, I signed up for TWO pieces, one slash and one femmeslash. Now I've just gotta figure out which two pairings I want to write.

For slash pairings, I got Percy/Zacharias, Remus/Ron, Viktor/Voldemort (or Tom Riddle), and then for femmeslash I got Sprout/Pince, Minerva/Ginny, and Ariana Dumbledore/Hannah.

Any preferences? x3

If I was going to write pairing!fic whenever I got around to writing any sort of fanfiction again, I certainly didn't expect it to be AS/S - even if you've gotta squint. Heh.

AUGH.

This is definitely NOT the time for me to get sick. I woke up with some sort of illness yesterday - sore throat, hurting ears, stuffy/runny nose, coughing, sinus headache... and today it's just gotten worse, despite taking a lot of Airborne and ODing on Vitamin C (although that's not actually really possible, thankfully). GYAH! I have a midterm to study for that's going to be on Tuesday, an acting workshop presentation to prepare with my partner for Tuesday, AND I'm supposed to be starting a baby-sitting job on Wednesday. I haven't been sick in months on end - and right when I get hit with all this crap to do, I get sick. La-de-fucking-da. >.< At least I'll have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, at which, with luck, I'll get some good antibiotics.

On another random note, I think I'm going to try writing a couple of drabbles for the [info]phoenix_flies drabble-a-thon later today. I'll post 'em up if I do.

Tagged by [info]themadscriptor earlier this month, but I'm just getting around to it now. x.x'

The rules:

a) List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself
b) Tag seven people to do the same
c) Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it"

Okay, bonus fact - I don't follow rules; I'm a Slytherin. x3 (I.E., There will be no tagging.)

Oh, dear...

I really can't believe how long I've had this journal and posted absolutely NOTHING in it. I guess when I originally made it I expected to have more time or more inspiration or more... more something.

I've had terrible, TERRIBLE writer's block for a very long time now. After finishing my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel, it's like I haven't been able to sit down and write anything. That might have something to do with the fact that I know that that piece in particular needs some MAJOR editing that I've been meaning to get to for over a year, but I almost feel like my creativity has completely run out on me. I mean, I'd been writing all sorts of things for at LEAST ten years, and then for the past couple of years it's been ridiculously difficult to get anything together. It's incredibly frustrating.

Er, so anyone have any ideas on how I could possibly kick-start my creativity into gear? Eheh. x.x
