51,000+ WORDS AND DONE!

This is the THIRD time I've finished NaNoWriMo, and OMGWTFBBQ WHERE THE HELL DID THIS COME FROM. I am super high on adrenaline, it's almost six in the morning, I've been up all night, and um, by the way, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Let's hope I get 6 hours of sleep before I have to get up and cook, y/y? xD

(Yes, I'm a bit of a nutter right now.)

Oh. Em. Gee.

25,000 WORDS, BABY!

Yes, I'm going to keep going until I hit 50,000 and finish this thing, because I can't quit now. I'm absolutely nuts, but I have to keep going.

And many thanks and a big hug to [info]torino10154; thank you so much for your support, dear!

I'm procrastinating.

NaNoWriMo has stolen my soul. Word count? 18,157 words. I just finished part one of four, which was supposed to be 11K of the 28K I had planned out. I really should be used to things not going as I plan, but I am in total shock. I'm writing. I'm writing A LOT.

NaNoWriMo, or rather, Lauren's batshit insane.

Um, all right, so... I'm kinda-sorta doing NaNoWriMo. And I think I'm kinda-sorta nuts. Or possibly more than kinda-sorta, because really, WTF?! I haven't written ANYTHING fictional besides a handful of fanfic drabbles since 2006, which is when I finished my last novel. I've written two novels already through NaNoWriMo - and since this last one, I hadn't been able to write just about anything. Fanfic ideas came and went, and I had NO original fiction ideas that I was really enthusiastic about pursuing, and now...

I WROTE 4,220 WORDS TODAY. While I realise that this may be a paltry sum for many of you, this is more fiction than I've written in YEARS. I used to write all the time. I started trying to write books when I was in first or second grade. Nothing was finished until I started doing NaNo, and actually finishing a book completely changed my life. Finishing two was absolutely crazy.

And now... I've only committed myself definitively to 25,000 words, which is equivalent to half the NaNo goal. But - I have a feeling I'm going to get suckered into writing another novel, a full 50,000 words before the month is up. I mean, I use scene cards. As in, before I begin, break down the entire story into scenes and set an approximate word count to be met for each scene. I wrote three scenes today which were supposed to be 1,000 words, 500 words, and another 500 words. The 1,000 word scene went over by about 300 words no big deal), but both of the 500 word scenes decided to nearly triple themselves.

... I'm pretty terrified right now. It's such a high, writing again, and... I don't want to lose this, but I'm terrified of reaching out and really grabbing this again.

Somebody hold my hand, plz? 0.o kthxbi

Hope it was a good one for all of you!

=D

So, I was in the study room of my dorm a little while ago, and a guy wearing five-inch heels walked in, took his stuff off the printer, bitched a bit on how it was printed on colored paper, and walked back out. Seriously, I love my university.

In case anyone's as curious as I am; that meme. =)

The problem with LJ/IJ/DW: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So ask me something you want to know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your journal and find out what people don't know about you.

Rambling with extra randomsauce.

'Kay, so, this is going to be a totally random, all-over-the-place post, because... I don't know.

My birthday is in two weeks! I'm somewhat excited and somewhat weirded out. I'll be two whole decades old, which feels odd, and I'll also not be a teenager anymore, which also feels odd. I really couldn't care less about turning twenty-one in another year, so I suppose I'm one year closer to the time when I can legally rent a Rent-A-Car in the U.S.? Eh, hopefully it'll be fun. I'm planning on going out to eat with some friends and maybe going clubbing the weekend after. We shall see.

Still have absolutly no inspiration for fic writing. However, I've been thinking a lot about starting the massive task of editing and rewriting my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel. It's been quietly sitting among all my other e-mail files for years, untouched. I've read it over a few times, but I haven't been able to bring myself to find the inspiration to start really whipping it into shape. I'm contemplating doing an abbreviated pseudo-version of NaNoWriMo this year, re-doing the whole thing for the first time. I don't know whether that'd be the best idea between midterms and finals, but... I'm considering it.

Are there ANY Star Trek reboot or even old-school Star Trek fans on my flist? Because I may have possible fallen headfirst into a new fandom. My school has some sort of deal going on where it gets films three to five months after they're released in theaters, and they hold four free showings of them during a designated weekend. (I'm sure the showings aren't actually free; the money for whatever deal they have probably comes out of the massive Activities Fee we have to pay in addition to tuition, just like every other school.) Two weekends ago they held the showings of the new Star Trek, and OMFG I AM OBSESSED WITH SPOCK. Or rather, Spock/Kirk. And Spock's eyebrows. And the actor who plays Spock, Zachary Quinto.

Actually, I'm really embarassed to say that I have his Facebook page fanned. x.x' I feel really odd friending/following/saying things to/about celebrities, because they're just... people. And I know that having no privacy and getting harassed by rabid fans is part of the job, but I guess I almost feel guilty. So many people want so much from them, and they're all only human. I like to try and respect personal space, no matter whose it is. SOMEONE TELL ME I'M BEING RIDICULOUS?

Oh! And I got to spend half a night in the emergency room on September 10th, which was expressedly Not Fun. Apparently, I have some sort of undiagnosed lung problem. I kind of knew this - I actually spent my summer going to a variety of different doctors - but I didn't, because while we knew there was a problem, we didn't know if it was really my lungs or my heart or my gastric system or WHAT it was. Then I got a sinus infection/chronic sinusitis. My whole face was swollen. Severe allergies + the chronic sinusitis aggravated whatever lung issue I've been having, and so I couldn't breathe. It was really scary; since I'm at school, we had to find one of my roommates friends to drive me to the hospital (my campus health center will only get you an ambulance to one hospital, which is the sort of hospital that if you're dying and you go there, they'll only kill you faster), and then her and my roommate had to stay with me until my parents could get to the hospital. Thankfully, since I go to school so close to home, it only took them around an hour and a half. The emergency room staff was amazing though - I had an EKG done within five minutes of walking in the door, and within twenty minutes I had two different doctors working on a diagnosis and two different nurses doing routine tests. I got a nebulizer treatment soon after, and when they determined that it wasn't a blood clot in my lungs and that the nebulizer had done enough for me, they released me with prescriptions for oral steroids, a steroidal inhaler, and a steroidal nasal spray. I got strict instructions to see a pulmonologist ASAP, to return if anything got worse, and to take all those medications PLUS my allergy medicine twice a day PLUS saline nasal spray twice a day PLUS multivitamins PLUS 1250mg Vitamin C a day PLUS the stuff I'm on normally. It was crazy, but they did handle everything very well and answered all my questions. It could have been a much worse experience.

How are you all?

IJ-iversaries and haircuts.

As of this past Thursday, I've officially passed the two-year mark here on IJ. I moved over here from LJ after much delibaration after Strikethrough '07, and in truth, I'm glad I did. Fandom may not be as big over here, but I've found that it's generally plenty big enough for me. And I do miss my old LJ flist, who it's been really hard to keep up with, but I also made some new fandom friends here who I really like. =D

... I should probably try to post more than I do now though. I've turned into such a lurker. 0.o'

On another note, I chopped eight inches off my hair this week! xD )

HBP = Do not wants?!

... Am I the only one not even remotely excited about HBP?

Unlike so many people I know, I'm NOT going to see Potter at midnight, and I don't actually have any plans to see it in the immediate future. In the past, I've gone to see all the Potter movies the day they came out, but I think Warner Brothers totally killed this one for me. As ridiculous as it is, I can't stop being extremely bitter about them pushing the release date back so far on such little notice with such little consideration for their fans. As much as they said they were going to use the extra time to make improvements to the film, I really doubt the improvements were worth the wait, and I am SO pissed off that the main reason they seem to have pushed it back so much was because they didn't have a summer moneymaker to fit in that spot. I know that's business for you, but I'm not sure it's business I can bring myself to support. I think I'd actually feel gross and guilty going to see it.

Er, anyone on my flist want to do me the favor of making me NOT feel guilty by telling me how awesome and amazing it was after they go see it? :D Provided it is awesome and amazing, of course.

PSA for ANY LGBT supporters/allies on my flist!

Have all the LGBT allies on my flist heard about the Rainbow Lounge raid that took place in Fort Worth, Texas a few days ago? If you haven't, Google "Rainbow Lounge" - it should come up with 500+ news articles on the raid which contain one or both of the stories going around.

According to the bar patrons, the FWPD and TABC showed up there with a paddy wagon and started randomly arresting people, charging them with public intoxication. Patrons who asked questions were shoved, ignored, brushed off, and in some cases threatened with arrest. Among the people who were arrested was a designated driver who hadn't been drinking at all, a patron who'd stopped drinking earlier and was just drinking water, and another who claimed to have had just two drinks that night.

According the the FWPD, the raid was a simple routine inspection, and no one was mistreated - until officers were groped by patrons.

Chad Gibson, one of the bar patrons that was arrested, ended up in the ICU of a nearby hospital in critical condition because of a blood clot on his brain. The FWPD asserts that he was one of the men that groped an officer - which apparently was reason enough for FIVE officers to slam him into a wall, cuff him with plastic zip ties, and then force him to the floor, smashing his head in the process. Other bar patrons assert that the officers were given a wide berth ("We're gay, not stupid!"), and neither Gibson nor any other bar patron groped them.

I. Am. Sickened.

Happy (belated) birthday, [info]torino10154!

Although it's admittedly a bit belated because IJ was down when I got home from work and straight on through midnight, but late than never! That said...

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday dear Toriiiiiiinooooo,

Two quick recs!

Recently, I've been the lucky recipient of both an uber hot drabble and lovely little ficlet, each of which I firmly believe you should go read if you haven't already! The former is Claimed by [info]torino10154, featuring Remus/Draco (huzzah for rarepairs!) and rated NC-17 for delightfully explicit mansex. The latter is About Her by [info]bridgetmkennitt, featuring Luna/Cho (<333) and rated G for beautifully crafted emotional moments and a dash of fluffiness. Many thanks to both [info]torino10154 and [info]bridgetmkennitt! =D

I had surgery for the third time in my life today - thankfully, this time it was only to extract two of my wisdom teeth, and I was allowed to be completely awake the whole time. I don't do well under anesthetic at all. So, I'm now absent a major source of jaw pain and tooth problems! Yay! ... My lip still feels about a mile long though. And I really hope the bleeding stops soon; my mouth is dryer than the Sahara.

... I'm actually starting to get hungry, which isn't a good thing. The only things I've been able to come up with to eat in the next few days are mashed potatoes and applesauce. It'd be really great if lactose-products wouldn't make me incredibly ill, but, that's just the way it goes, I suppose.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all the other Americans on my f-list; happy Thursday to everyone else! I'm very thankful that I have all of you as friends, and I do hope that everyone ate enough turkey/tofurkey. =D

My family and I actually skipped the turkey today; we had roast chicken instead. xD We decided that after years of cooking up turkey and hardly eating any of it (since none of us are big fans of turkey), we'd just go with something we liked. It felt a little strange, but we had all the other foods that're usual for us - stuffing (with Italian bread and prosciutto and cheese in it!), corn, yams with melted marshmellows, cranberry sauce, crescent rolls, potato croquets - and I made a pumpkin pie for dessert.

Thanksgiving's a pretty important holiday for my family. Oddly enough, my sister and I are direct descendants of one of the Mayflower pilgrims through our father's side, something like the 11th or 12th generation. We have the lineage all written out and verified, but I never remember what the exact number is. So~o, one of my many-times-great grandfathers was one of the few piligrims lucky enough to survive the first winter, and thank anything he did, because otherwise I wouldn't be here.

... Apparently, neither would Richard Gere or Dick Van Dyke. ^^'

Grrr...

I am teetering on the brink of throwing a fit. Apparently, someone has used my personal e-mail address to sign up for some BDSM porn/personals website. At first I thought it was just a standard spam e-mail type thing, but now I'm receiving notifications of messages from a number of users on the site. The e-mail address the messages are coming from is a "noreply@" e-mail address, and when I go to the website and click on "Support" or "Spam Policy" it redirects me to a page where I'm supposed to enter my date of birth and electronic signature, certifying that I'm not a minor and WANT to view this website's content. Except, you know, I DON'T, and I don't want to give some random website my birthdate or electronic signature just so I can unsubscribe.

Anyone have any idea what I can do about all this, besides reporting the messages as spam to Gmail? The most I've been able to find is a Brooklyn address for mail inquiries about their digital information collection in regards to compliance laws.

OBAMA

There is a riot going outside my dorm room, and everything feels absolutely crazy.

Obama. As. President. Oh God, I hoped. SO much. And I didn't believe that America would actually do it. I didn't believe that enough people would be able to find it within themselves to vote for him. And I am so, SO glad that people did.

Thank you, America. Let's hope the next four years put us on a course that's radically better than the one we've been on.

(P.S. - Yes, I totally voted today. For the first time. \m/)
